Two Questions
I did not look under the Bra. I found the drivers side headlight dim, the canon plug cut. I dont know what it had been spliced into to get power. The drivers side is significantly dimmer. I already tried a jumper from battery this did not increase lumens in light bulb. Further it would appear to be a shorted ground and with direct voltage applied it (headlight bulb did not increase in brightness)
Secondly, Transmission light (idiot light on cluster) Came on after driving vehicle for four hours. I first stopped vehicle and checked transmission fluid. Transmission visibly inspected and area for transmission fluid leaking or burning. None found. I disconnected battery and waied ten minutes, this cleared the transmission waring ligt from instrument cluster. I think someone has gotten over on me!
Please help.

uh.....
this sounds like the answers to some questions asked... but it is the first post?
how bout a little background.... did u just buy the car and think u got ripped off?
Did someone get to yer car and sabotage it?
What year is it? how many miles?... did not look under the bra??? [sm=huh.gif]

You guys kill me!
Thank you, I looked under the bra. There was a small crack in the air dam. Yes, cars and trucks have air dams. The headlight was dim. when I traced the wiring harness, I found the plug cut, no sabatoge. It seems as if the car was damaged on the drivers side. They could not (whoever) did the repair spliced the wiring for the headlight and turn signal back into the original wiring harness. So do all you masters of the obvious have any ideas of how to brighten up this light or to (jumper) it. Jumper means to bypass the circuit providing power to the light in an auxiallary way. Thanks.
A canon plug is on most electrical connections on civillian, military and aircraft that has wiring. Thanks again.

Guys, I looked. read my reply to my post and try and help. 2001 SE it was a purchase for my teenager. I think it is a solid car other then the headlight. I need some ideas of how to repair the headlights dimness. either bypassing or jumping the circuit.
But otherwise thanks for the comments

canon plug.....that would easily be then called the headlight plug right?????.....wtf that was easy to say
thanks for informing me that cars and trucks have air dams.....i never knew that....now i feel smarter

you might wanna try and replace the bulb
....replacing means to reomve the old bulb and put a new one in its place
Maybe I am not clear, Ligt bulb was changed, see I might not be clear.....but light bulb plug works. I am not a civilian mechanic. So....Thanks again. Here is the question. The light bulb is dim due to someone splicing into another part of the wiring harness...Does anyone have a good and thoughtful idea about how to jump the circuit and provide more power to the bulb?
Otherwise, let me know if the wiring harness is seperate at the headlights i.e. it is not part of the loom. That way I can replace it there.
Thanks

OK the headlight connector wires on the drivers side:
-Black is Ground
-Violet is low beam
-Red/Org. is High beam
On the passenger side:
-Black is Ground
-Violet/Red is Low beam
-Red/Org. is High beam
The two black wires are connected to chassis Ground.
The Low beam (violet and violet/red) wires connect to fuses #17 and #18 they then connect together as a violet/white wire back to the light/dimmer switch.
The two High beam wires (Red/Org.) are connected together and run back to fuse #8 and then on a (grn/brn) wire to the light/dimmer switch.
Assuming that the low beam are working normally. Then with the lights on high beam, use a test light or a meter to check for 12v Battery voltage on the Red/Org wire on the drivers side. If you see 12v Battery voltage then the problem is likely just a bad lamp socket that needs to be replaced. If there is no 12v Battery voltage then there is a damaged or cut wire. Either trace it back until you find the problem or run a new wire across to the Red/Org wire on the passenger side.
