Default rebuilding 2001 neon--need some help

I bought a 01 neon lx and am in the process of rebuilding it. i have done the body work and had it on a frame machine. Now i am faced with putting in the airbags. i got both of the bags and the module. The clock spring is my problem. I was told that there are multiple different clock springs in these cars. I am also told that i can not reuse mine ( I know that the plug burns when the bag fires ). My questions are these:

1 Can i just splice a new plug onto my spring and go on with it like that?

2 Does it really make a difference which spring i use?

3 If i wated till later to put the srping in but had the module and everything else in would it hurt anything?

If anyone has any information on this subject i would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance for any input.

Skip the air bags. If you have a good restraint system or even better an aftermarket one with some good seats, airbags are just a pain. A good aftermarket steering wheel would be nice too if you can relocate the cruise controls that you may have. Aftermarket good for these mods plus maybe some NOS buttons later too......?

In virginia you must replace them before they are inspected to be put back on the road. I don't have a choice in the matter. Plus why would i want to spend money on something that serves absolutely no purpose in a economy car such as aftermarket seats. I am putting this car back together to have something to drive to school. All i want is to get it put together to pass inspection so i can drive it.
