I have the standard drum brakes in the rear. is there an easy way to change them to disc and is it worth it?
I seem to recall GRM or somebody (anyone remember?) had a 1st gen project car they actually converted the other direction to cut weight.... suppose it could depend on whether you're more interested in going faster or stopping faster [sm=smiley21.gif].

I always though disc were lighter but maybe its different on neons.
Sorta had this in the back of my mind, too. But after rebuilding the disc and drum brakes on our '96, I do believe that the total brake weight on the disc wheels is greater. Though the folks that worry about this are targeting a performance or handling level with almost a backpacker's mentality of shaving ounces. I don't drive anywhere near that margin, so would prefer the 4 wheel discs..... but then I don't shave all my body hair off to go swimming either.
well if you decide to go for the 4 disc setup please let me know how you plan to go about it. I also think disc breaks look better with the wheels as opposed to the drum peeking out back there. Just me maybe.
I wish mine were disc as well, but they're not.[:@] I don't plan on spending the money to convert them, at least I don't plan on it. My neon stops plenty well right now, so until my car starts runnin 13 sec quarter miles and I need some serious braking power I doubt I'll change them. As lone said, I'll be painting mine one of these days, along with my front calipers.
