Wierd Noise?
I have no idea what this is Maybe someone does lol... Well if i Drive my 1995 Sohc Plymouth neon for lets say an hour If i pop my hood i hear like a BEEP kind of noise From what looks to be some type of computer or something on the drivers side near the drivers side strut tower its a silver box type thing with a bar code and numbers on it and like a wireing harnesss running into it...Please If this is anything important help me lol Im me on aim sometime my Screen name is Diamondback238 Thanks
That "box" is, as you correctly guessed, a computer. It is your PCM (powertrain control module) to be exact. As for a "beeping" noise, you've got me stumped. I wasn't even aware that a PCM had the ability to make noise. Perhaps someone else will have some more helpful insight.
It doesnt seen like it sopposed to be like a noise made by like a speeker or something that should make the noise idk why it just reminds me of something with like heat because there is a hell of alot of heat under that hood but the engine doesnt overheat so i guess its normal?
The PCM makes a "Beep" sound normally. What's prbably happening is that you haven't noticed it before but they do generally make a whining sound. It's really nothing to be worried about unless it's really prominent during normal operation. Otherwise, disregard it.
