Default 2000 Dodge neon R/T advice..

Well hello all you dodge fans

I'm a mazda enthusiast, though recent events have caused me to go looking for another car. I currently own a 92 mazda protege dx, and well, it's not suitable for me anymore.

I get my hardship license in december, I'm 14 right now. My mom is half blind, so I do a lot of driving right now, but Texas summers in a car with no air is unbareable. The protege has 188,000 miles on the engine now, still runs good, but it needs new cv joints, a/c repaired, new carpet, and quite a lot of work done to it. I do all of the work onthe protege, and well, there's a limit to what I know how to do. Oil changes, radiator flushes, alll basic maintenance is no problem, but when you get into the advanced sections, I'm a total idiot.

In 2000, we bought a brand new neon, which ended up being a lemon, and that was the first experience with dodge I had ever had. However, my uncle has had 4 neons, raves about them, thats what interests me in this car.

Anyways.. Since the protege is not suitable for my family anymore, I'm looking into buying a 2000 Dodge Neon R/T from a car lot in town, and I had a few questions.

I can't find a '00 neon R/T listed in the bluebook :S

The car has a spotless interior, and one dent on the back door, which would be a breeze to pop out.

It has the rear spoiler. I havent had a lot of time to ask questions about it yet, so there isnt a ton I know about it.

103,000 miles is what the odometer reads. A little more than average, but from what I've read, these cars were released in '99 as a 2000.

Another thing that bothered me was it was an automatic, I'm sooo not used to them

The car was bought by the service manager for this lot, so you know it's in good shape. Aside from a perfect body and interior, the engine is very clean, and the oil is very clear. You can tell this car has been taken care of, and garage kept.

They're asking 6,995, but without a KBB value, I've got nothing to go by. Could anyone direct me to some site that may have a value for it?

Looking on a few sites the earliest mention of a Neon R/T is '01
You might want to get the vin of the car you are looking at and run ti through carfax. Most reputable dealers will run them for you. Hell I have access to a carfax account I will run it for you if you provide the vin.

I have a 97 neon with 174K miles on it, it has been my most reliable car yet, so I bought an 03 SXT (which I am still playing with to figure out my mileage issues) The 97 burns oil now, but it still runs =)

Good luck and let me know if you need help.

according to motor trend

"Dodge recently expanded on its popular R/T line of vehicles by adding two new cars to the mix. The Intrepid R/T and Neon R/T will both go on sale in mid-2000 as ,01 models. They join a family of vehicles that already includes some pretty impressive iron: the Viper R/T10 Roadster, Dakota R/T, Caravan R/T, and Charger R/T concept car."

I'm about to head up there on my way to school, I have a feeling they're going to try and rip my mom off, so this time I'm going with her

I'll get the VIN tonight if I can't get it today, I'll go up there after they close.

I've seen 1 or 2 '00 R/T's, although they arent anywhere on the books.

Wish me luck

Never had a problem with the protege up until now. We do more and more travelling (me and my mom work together xD, and I've noticed it burning oil badly now all of a sudden. Changed the oil 1,000 miles ago, already was almost at the low mark [:@]

This can't possably be a 00 R/T,
The R/T wasn't released untill late 00 as an 01,
and the R/T never came in an automatic, just manual.[&o]
