These are the shift points for your car, well for the 2004 neon. I assume since you have an 03 SXT which far as I know is almost exactly the same as my 04, your recommended shift points should be the same.

1 to 2: 14mph
2 to 3: 23mph
3 to 4: 29mph
4 to 5: 45mph

My guess would be to get the numbers they have for mpg thats when you would want to shift. Of course they will look at it for free, but I'm willing to bet they will find nothing. Here is what you should be prepared for, you'll wait around for about 30 minutes and they'll come and say, "well we hooked your car up to the computer and we didn't find anything wrong with it, if it continues to happen bring it back." Thats what they did to me when my speedometer was out of wack. I had to bug them about it 3 times before they fixed it. They even took it for a test drive one time and they claimed nothing was wrong with it, I call BS, they just didn't want to fix it. Now granted the problem didn't persist all the time, it was intermintent, but they should of been able to find the problem without making me stop in 3 different occasions and hear me tell them about it.

I don't baby mine in a sense that I never step on it, but I do take extra good care of it. I used wash it every week, but I've been busy lately. Change my own oil every 3000 with mobil 1 synthetic.

that sucks dude...

those are for real shift points? I usually do about...
1 to 2: 15mph
2 to 3: 30 mph
3 to 4: 40 mph
4 to 5: 50 or so

i dunno.. it usually depends..

I wonder what my recommended ones are..

Yeah, my guess is that the needle was put on too tight, because it used to be a little bit jumpy before 40mph. But they weren't smart enough to try that, and it was 2 months old at that point so I wasn't going to tinker with it. They finally ended up getting me an entirely new cluster for it. Worked perfectly since then, and I haven't been back to dealer for anything since then. I wonder why?[:@] I don't follow the shift points at all, if I'm not toasting some cavalier or honda, then I usually shift whenever I hit 3,000 rpm. Anything lower than that and I bog out too much. I still usually get 28-30mpg driving like that.

Good deal, just don't let them tell you nothing is wrong with it. Especially if you know something is wrong with it.

How do you know where redline is? When you run out into the high rpms, you just shift when you feel the power drop off? or when you hit the rev limiter? Yah dude, you should get a tach, they kick ***. My old car had a messed up speedometer on it and the tach was the only way I knew how fast I was going.
