Default Aftermarket UConnect?

I just purchased a 2007 Nitro SLT, and during the test drive, I was told that it included the UConnect system. Of course, after the purchase, I tried to connect my phone to it and got "UConnect Unavailable". After speaking with the dealer about this, I was told I was apparently given incorrect information, and they would see what they could do, to rectify it. I was told later on that the UConnect system was $1800, and that they would be trying to find something else that would work for me.

I've been doing a little research on my own, and there appears to be an aftermarket UConnect system, but I haven't been able to find much in the way of details. I was wondering if anybody here could help with the following questions:

1. How much does it cost? I've seen $300 mentioned, but that seems like a pretty big jump from the $1800 I was told by the dealer. Was the dealer giving me bad information *again*, or will this $300 kit not work on its on?

2. I have the stereo with the UConnect buttons on it, they just don't DO anything. Is there anything else I'd need for this aftermarket kit to work?

3. I've been able to find forum posts about people getting this kit installed, but I haven't been able to find any information on obtaining one. Any recommended places for me to look?
