Exclamation major windshield replacement problems with 2008 Dodge Nitro

My boyfriend bought me a brand new Dodge Nitro for Xmas 2008. Two days after getting it my windshield was cracked by a tiny stone from a semi. The stone hit right on the top in the tinted area where there is no molding, the crack turned out to be about 8 inches long after my 7 hour trip to Florida. I had the windshield replaced by Safelite the company that Geico recommended. The installer messed up my headliner and inside and outside moldings. I had a huge air leak that sounded like a window was down at 40 mph and up. I called Safelite and they did fix the moldings and headliner. The actual glass has now been replaced 4 times with no difference in the air noise. Now Safelite says they have done all they can and it will never be the same as when it left the assembly line. This frustrates me to no end because the truck is less then a month old and I haven't even made my first payment. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, was the problem ever fixed? What company helped you?

Heather

IMO if you went through your insurance company on this, get them involved. Tell them the company they advised you to do the work caused other problems and then left you hanging with the issue. We all pay a crazy fee for insurance, make them earn some of it...

Also, this site is massive, 100k member strong, but the Nitro section doesn't get a lot of traffic. I think this is the first I've even posted in it and I got over 5600 posts. If nobody has a better solution for you in say a day or so, PM me and we'll link to your problem from a larger traffic section or maybe copy it to a non model specific section for better exposure...

I have contacted Geico a couple times now and they keep transfering me to Safelite. Last Thursday after Geico called them, they called me and they wanted to take my truck through the weekend and put me in a rental car. Right away I asked if he thought I was stupid. With all the damage they did while I was there, who knows what they would do over the weekend. I took it in this morning for yet another replacement, thats number 4 in 3 weeks. The problem is no better. Safelite claims there is nothing more they can do and Geico just keeps transfering me to them? No wonder people hate insurance companies, I've never had a problem with Geico but they are starting to **** me off!

At this point I would call Geico and tell them that the work performed by Safelite has been totally unacceptable and you want to take it to another glass repair company. You have the right to choose who performs your work.
There is a good one not too far from you on Merritt Island, Advanced Auto Glass of Brevard. Not had to use them personally, but I know two people who have and they've done a thorough, professional job for both of them.
Tell Geico you want to bring it there for the repair and give them a call...

If you can get Geico to go for it (stand by your guns with them) post back here or PM me and I'll get the exact address and phone number for you. I shoot at an indoor range on Banana River Dr. and think I remember seeing the place about half a mile from there.
Good luck...

Rule #1... NEVER use an insurance recommended company... Find someone with a good rep for customer service and quality parts...

Why don't you do a little diagnostic urself first? Einstein saids doing the same thing over and over again but expect different result is the definition of insanity.
do you really expect the 4th windshield will fix it?
Go buy a roll of WIDE Masking/Painter's tape, tape around the edge of your windshield, and drive your car, see which area you tape off fixes your noise.
If you taped all around ur windshield, but the noise is still there, your problem is probably not even related to your windshield. Now start tapeing off other suspected areas like Doors seals, mirrors, etc...
Sometimes the best mechanic you can find in the world is yourself.
