Unhappy Rattling from driver's side front when go over bumps

Hello,

3 months ago (Feb. 9) I bought a used 2007 Nitro. I won't even beging to describe how awful the dealership has been but just a taste: About a week later (Feb. 18) I had the darn thing at the dealership because a few days earlier the ABS/Trac sensor lights were lit up. When they looked into fixing that, they told me I also needed new rear brakes, rotars, calipers, etc. They replaced them for free, of course. A few days ago when it was warm and I had my window open for the first time (I live in Chicago), I noticed a rattling noise when I went over bumps. It seems to handle the bumps fine, just sounds like something was loose. I noticed that when I hit bumps while I am applying the brakes, there is no rattling.

I took it to the dealership today and they told me I need new front shocks. The car has just over 45,000 miles on it. I have driven it maybe 700 miles in the 3 months I have owned it. I had a hard time believing it was the shocks so I spoke with two other mechanics. One is the mechanic my father trusts with the family and company vehicles and has done work on all our vehicles for years and the other is my coworker's husband. Neither of them believe it is the shocks. The dealership told me it would be $608 to fix and they're not covering it under their limited sales warranty (3,000 miles or 3 months, whichever ends first) and it is not covered under the extended warranty I purchased (which I discovered they lied to me about). I do not trust them. Has anyone experienced this issue with their Nitro? I'm not sure what to do because at this point I think they ripped me off and I'm extremely afraid of what other issues the car has. Thank you for reading and, if you have had the same issue with your Nitro, for sharing.
