Default Mystery smoke from vents

Can anyone help ? I have a 2007 dodge nitro v6 with the 3.7 had sudden smoke/steam coming from the vents and losing coolant found the passenger side wet assumed a bad heater core. So I bypassed the heater core. Refilled the lost coolant got rid of any air bubbles in the coolant system. No more smoke or overheating or loss of coolant. Two days later my ac line burst and filled the cabin with more steam/smoke from what I can only assume was the freeon. Checked the ac hose going into the cabin found a leak on both ends yellow/greenish color assuming liquified freeon. Are the two incidents related somehow or just bad luck ? What caused the ac hose to burst suddenly. I’m at. A loss

Have you had the car long? Green dye is a dye used to find a leak. If you bought the ca, say, a year ago, the previous owner was having trouble and sold it or traded it in. I'm thinking the coolant wasn't ever changed. This allows the dissimilar metals to eat the insides up through electrolysis. I think it was just serendipity that both would blow at the same time. You don't need a/c, although you might want it. You DO need a heater to keep the windshield clear in the winter. The dash will need to come out, but both parts are there together. If the car is otherwise in good shape, have a shop do the repair. It won't be cheap though.
