EGT thermocouple placement
Just got my Juice with the Attitude controller and have everything installed except for the EGT thermocouple. The installation manual shows the installation up on top of the manifold andmore or less in line withcylinder #3.
I am think it would be better adjacent to the 4 bolt manifold outlet flange. This way it would see a better average of all 6 cylinders and what is going into the turbo.
Can those of you that have installed EGT thermocouples tell me your experiencesand placement preferences.

This might give you just what you are looking for. Just scroll down if you want the pics or read up, I went into semi-decent detail.

Cumminalong - Thanks for the link to your install. I got everything on mine installed in about 1 hour but have not drilled for the thermocouple.
I want to find out if anyone drilled closer to the turbo inlet. It would make more sense having it there in case one of the back injectors started to really dump fuel.

The thing is, the manifold is split in two where it dumps down. So even putting it there will only give you a reading of those specific cylinders.
My thinking was 1 - Try to get it near that number 4 exhaust port and be able to get as many cylinders in a reading as possible, 2 - Get it in the place that caused me the least issues getting it in.
I know a lot of folks like using that #6 location as it runs hot, but it's still only one cylinder and at best you get 2 cylinders. Putting in the stream near that #4 cylinder gives you the greatest number of cylinder monitored.
Just my mode of thinking I guess. I ended up between the #3 & #4, because it caused me the least amount of issues putting it in.

it is the last area the water gets to before moving back to the radiator.
just about every grenaded engine Ive seen from overheating it has been the cylinder(s) that are the farthest from the radiator.
