Default Parking brake no worky

Bought the 2001 a couple weeks ago and the parking brake hardly works. Rear pads are fine. The previous owner admitted he took off and drove a little with the brake on a few times, as it's hard to notice with the cummins lol. I haven't taken the caliper off to see exactly how it works yet. Is this common? The pedal goes all the way to the floor but doesn't put much force on the brakes.

All the parking brake does is set your service brakes manually by way of a cable, there is a splice in the cable with a threaded rod and nut towards the front of the bed. All u need to do is tighten that nut and it will draw the cables tighter to set the brakes.

Most trucks that have 4 wheel disk brakes have hat type disks in the rear and the parking brake shoes are on the inside and uses shoes.

I haven't done any brake work on mine yet but I figured it had that type too, if you use the disk brake as a parking brake and let it sit a while the rest of it will rust except for the area being covered by the pads and then you get surging brakes in the rear
