Default Belt jumps toward engine

The belt on my 95 jumps to the engine side almost as soon as the truck is started. I replaced the tensioner (which seemed a little loose but not really bad) and am now replacing the water pump (started to leak). Has anyone else had this problem? Or does anyone have any insight about how to determine the true cause of the problem? I don't just want to throw parts at it but do want to slove it.

The belt seems to stay one "notch" toward the engine indefinately.

1. Make sure the belt is an 8 grove belt. The gassers are 7 grove, (even the V-10s I think).

2. If any other engine components were replaced, compressor, alt, etc, check the number of grooves on the pulleys.

And if you have A/C.....double check that the belt is riding in the proper grooves as well. I also have a 95', and when I installed my 210 amp alternator, they sent it with a 7 groove pulley. I wasted 2 belts in 3 days before I figured out the problem.

Good luck with your ride.
