Default The good and the bad - Rancho shocks

I installed Rancho RS5000 shocks and steering stabilizer today. The good - much better ride. Not smoother but way more control. Not bouncing around like with the stockers. The bad - when I installed the stabilizer, was tightening the stud that attaches to the link bar. Spec is 40 ft/lbs. I got to to about 35 and felt the nut spin. Peeled the threads off the stud, not the nut so just put a spot weld on the end of the stud and the nut so it wouldn't back off.

A tip for installing the front shocks - mount the tower to the schock out of the truck. Much easier to get the correct torque. Thendrop inthe entire unit and install the lower bolt. Finally torque the 3 tower nuts to finish off. Live and learn.
