Transmission Fluids....
Whats the opinions regarding transmission fluids? Synthetic or Mopar brand ( which I remember possibly reading someone's idea that it too was synthetic).
I'm working on a transmission upgrade job and gauges later this month and was wondering what would be best.
Thanks everyone,
Walt

If your going to the expense of upgrading your transmission, I'd think you should use the best quality synthetic transmission fluid (e.g. AMSOIL, Royal Purple, Mobile 1, etc.). Otherwise, I'd just run a major brand from the parts store. I think I got Valvoline from Advanced Auto. Just be sure to meet or exceed the manufacture's recommendation for grade and viscosity.
If you don't mind cost, you may want to look into these fluids. http://www.le-inc.com/index.jsp They deal more with industry but, also sell to the general public. They have contracts all over the world to supply oils and lubricants. I had a long talk with a rep there who told me the Coast Guard uses only their product for all their machiney and boats. That claim alone is pretty impressive. The Coast Guard has lots of diesel engines.
It's what I run in all my vehicles. One of the first things I did when I bought my truck was to change all the fluids i.e., diffs, tranny & oil. There plenty of info on their site to justify using their product :-)

I have utilized Lubrication Engineers Gear Oil in my race cars before synthetic lubes were available, and they make great lubes. Thanks for the website info. as I have not seen anything about LE for so long I thought they were out of business. I plan on using their lubes in my pumps, and other equipment that normally uses 70 to 140 gear lube, in my business, now that I know it is still available.

I large as they are, it's probably not very likely they'll go out of business. I'm looking into becoming a rep for them but, it will take moving some product to even bother. It's really hard to get any of these diesels guys to use a oil they've never heard of. I like the fact I can buy 5 gal buckets and 55gal drums. When your changing fluids in 4 vehicles, it's much cheaper that way.
