Wastegate
I was thinking about tinkering with my wastegate and was wondering if anyone else has modified theirs at all and what you did to them. I've heard good and bad things about doing it and would like to be a little more informed before I made a decision.
best thing to do is to get yourself a boost elbow. it attaches itself to the compressor side of the turbo, and you can adjust the allen head to bleed off boost pressure to delay the opening of the waste gate for higher boost numbers.

Will modding the wastegate lower or raise EGT temps? I'm running 1200 degrees pulling a heavy loaded trailer and really want to find a way to lower my EGT and save my turbo for awhile. The BHAF is the next step for me too.
you will get higher boost numbers. . .only problem is your turbo will run out of the efficiency mapping aound 35psi(I think) after that you are only pushing hot air and that will increase EGT's. at this point the only thing you can do is either 1. back out of the throttle a bit. 2. downshift. 3. get a bigger turbo.
Completely plugged my wastegate, running 38 lbs on a good day (usually around 35). Doesn't really help with egt's though as drew said the intake charge is hotter. How ever I got my probe after the turbo and even loaded going up a hill, can only get about 900F. I think the auto has something to do with that though.
