Default Advice on purchase 03 3500 4dr cummins

I was looking to buy an 03 3500 4dr with diesel and auto trans. It has 112,000 miles.Everyone tells me not to buy cause they have trans trouble and the front ends tend to wear out. Is this true? can anyone offer advice? I have driven 3 duramax chevys and this dodge and I really like they way the dodge drives but if they have trans trouble that kind of scares me. Your advice is greatly needed.
thanks

Ive put almost 300k combined miles on two different CTDs and only one Sensor in the tranny and two sets of brakes. My last set of tires looked good with 70k on them. So good I put them in the garage for a rainy day. That says alot fot the front ends and tranny, being as how I max out on the gross weight 24k to 26k every time I get in it. All trucks have things go wrong ,but dollar for dollar I can keep more cash in my pocket with a CTD. These babies make my living for me year after year with little to no problems. On the other hand if the previous owner beat the crap out of the truck your looking at, tranny probs may come up. Get it checked out, before you get it and good luck!!!

Whoa watermelon, where have ya been man. All of the sudden you just pop up and start again. Welcome back. Anyways, there arnt very many known transmission problems as long as you treat them well. Now if you start modding out the rear and have your torque and horsepowerto ungodly numbers with stock transmission then you may run into a little trouble.
