Yes, I believe red fuel is the same thing that is ran in construction equipment, I have watched the fueler at work fill up the machines, the truck has 2 types of fuel one that says for off road use only, the other is for highway use, so I would imagine the off road use is the red fuel.

In most cases it is LSD not ULSD which is better for your engine.
If you run it carry about 6 empty bottles of Marvel Mystery Oil in the truck that way on the slim chance you do get checked you tell them you had an injector sticking so you loaded up the the tank with the MMO which will turn green hyway fuel red.
To prove it in court they would have to take a sample and have a chemical analisis done and they are not going to do that unless you realy **** them off.

I know ppl who have ran it for years and never got caught, but I live in the great plains and people around here let them do it for the most part. The only place they can check you is DOT check points and other than that they have to have permission i believe. Out here I believe first time is 500 sec is 5000 and third is 3 years jail and 10000. personaly I'd run red if it was legal cause I've seen engines run better one it but since its illegal I dont run it. I'm a picky F****r

Off road use only is dyed red. There is no state road use tax on it. Farmers use it, construction equipment ect.... It is available at many stations around here and you see alot of folks filling up 5 gallon cans in the back of pickups. 
It went up from 1.98 per gallon to 2.08 per gallon recently. That is .61-.71 a gallon cheaper. I know of one person that was caught at the pump putting it directlyin his truck. DOT guy tryed to give him a break but this fellow is a real smart ***. They wrote him up but it was dropped in court. I have never heard of anyone being stopped and checked in a private truck. Many folks around here are running it.
