Yup, I've got the trouble code P0216 (Injection Timing Control Circuit Malfunction) after noticing no throttle response yesterday evening. It only happened at low rpms. When I jammed the accelerator it jumped just fine. About to swap the lift pump with a cummins program pump i bought several months ago. ( I knew I shoulda replaced itbut... ) I just primed the wife to expect a VP44 replacement and edge install!
I hope theP1693 (Turbo Charge Control Circuit Malfunction) is related. I could hear the turbo kick in so I hope it's ok.
stay tuned...

so, is it necessary to take the starter off? those star-head bolts are a b*tch!!!
edit: for future reference: The starter does NOT need to come off to replace the Lift-pump. It came out super easy, plenty of room to remove it even with the filter still in.

if youve got 216, you need to take the thing to a diesel shop and have the pump pressure and flow tested. the pump has been starved of fuel and I hope you dont have a $2000 problem under your hood.
