6.7cummins,

If it were me I would add another 500 lbs to the 1,000 all ready in the bed and run the truck at least twice for 33-36 hours non stop except for fuel to help get the engine broke in. But if you cant do a twin 33-36 hr run then keep at least 1200 lbs of weight in the bed for the next 5-6K for engine break in. I know some say its not needed but we use to break in semi engines by loading them up to 80,000 lbs and run them non stop (in the Mountains states) except for fuel for a minium of 24 hours.

IMHO the only way to break in a diesel engine is to make it work. FYI, I broke mine in by runing it 33 hr from IA to Oregon with about 1200 lbs in the bed and we did the same coming back from OR to IA.
