Default Screeeeeech

I've had my 04 CTD since March and the only problem was a water pump leak that the dealer promptly replaced. Even before then I've noticed that when the truck is turned off it has ascreech to it when the engine stops. Is this NORMAL? If so, why? Sounds like a belt screeching, but just a short screech when everything stops turning. Thanks Carl00723@aol.com

Normal. You have quite a few belt driven accesseries and with the high compression of the cummins, the engine stops faster than the accesseries can.

Sounds like you might need a complete rebuild, pistons are likely bad.
