Default Temp Sensor Questions

Hello All. I ran across this sit the other day and figured I pick yall brains alittle. I have a 94 Dodge 3500 with the ol 12 valve. The truck has a litle over 265,000 miles on it. the problem I am havin that is realy causin my ears to smoke, is My Coolant tepm sensor has quit workin on me some how. It has done this once before and I installed a new temp sender in the head and all was well for about six months, A few days ago my gauge would barely come up then fall back like it was not readin. now it wont move at all. I have already replaced the Sender unit in the head once again. I talked to the service guy at the dealer and found out that I know more than he does. Ive kinda ran out of ideas, Have yall got any? Id really appreciate it if yall could help me out. Sry for bein so long winded. Thanks in advance.

Is yours a 2wire sensor or a 1 wire? If it's a two wire, to check the wiring up to the gauge, just jump the two at the sensor connector. If its a one wire, gound that wire at the sensor connector. The gauge should peg when you do this.

I have the one wire Sending unit. Ill try that and see what happens. IF it dosn't peg my gauge Ive either got a bad gauge or a wire in two some where, Right? The only thing that gets me is that it would just do this gradually it took like a week to finally quit working. Some days it would be fine others it wouldn't read at all.

Sounds like you got it. If it doesn't work at the sensor, I would go to the backside of the gauge and try it there.

Sounds like the problem I had with my blower motor. CHECK THE FUSES IN THE DOOR(on my 98).
See if the fuse is making a good contact with the fuse holder, some times they get loose for some unknown reason and you don't get power to where it should be going.
