5th Wheel Size
Check in your owners manual. It will tell you the maximum TOW WEIGHT, as well as GVWR. You can do a lot of things to help out by adding air bags or extra leaf springs and really good tires on the back end of your truck, make sure you have a good brake box and top rated hitch. My truck had some extra leaf springs on it when I purchased it used. You can see in the picture that it slumps down slightly in the back, but I say that ain't bad for 10.5k

You must have not ever pulled a bumper pull. Fivers just pull much easier and are much easier to turn and back up. There is no way I will get a bumper pull.

That is a nice setup bksram3500, except the bunks are a little to small for my family. Myson is 6'3 and growing, lol. So bunks that are only 6'1 long wont cut it. And it is only a bumper pull, lol.
Hey Burley, I've seen models simular to what you're describing. I beleive that they are now discontinued, but go to www.rvtrader.comand look up a 'Triumph" made by Fleetwood. I think the last model came out around 04' or 05'.
Hey Squirtbottle, I inquired about that very question before buying my 3500 mega. Word came back from my friend who's a fleet manager, who checked with the factory, and that a 3500 4x4, such as mine can carry a fifth wheel camper weighing 15,500 lbs. That being said, I feel that the factory feels that they should give a conservitive number in the event that someone buys this truck for daily heavy towing. Guys like us that tow on occasion are not going to put continuious stresses on the truck. I also feel that the weakest link is the tranmission. The engine and chassis can handle the load, but not alot of confidence in the transmission. A few months ago, I bit the bullet and upgraded my tranmission toan ATS system. Not that I had a problem, but I didn't want any problems when I'm out on the road with my family. OK, back to the original question, how much can you tow? I've got the 3500, and my trailer with an added generator is 15,800 dry. Add 4 passengers, 84 gallons of fuel, a fair amount of camping gear and various crap and we're tipping the scales around 17,500lbs. Can I stop it, I feel that I can. I have a Pacbrake installed, along with a Co-Pilot torque converter controller from ATS. The trailer has 2 brakes on each axle so as long as I'm carefull, I beleive it'll be just fine. We're leaving New Orleans bound for Yellowstone in a few weeks, I'll let ya know how we did!
