I examined my needs for some time before pulling the trigger on my dually. The reason for the truck to begin with was to pull our future camper, which by the way came after the truck. The decision to buy the dually was only because of it being a more stable platform while towing. The vast majority of my miles on the truck are in a non towing mode, but still the same, I wanted the safest system while towing with my family. Lots of time I regret not getting a single wheel truck because of parking or drive thruissues. When the time comes along that we're towing the 5'ver, I'm glad to have it for the added safety and stability it provides.

How about having too much truck? I guess one can never really have too much truck. I'm currently towing a 27' Keystone Hornet Sport which weighs about 5000 lbs dry with a 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 CTD 5.9L. I took it through the mountains of Colorado last weekend and the truck didn't flinch. Even going uphill through several mountain passes, I had plenty of power to accelerate and keep up with traffic. I used to tow this RV with a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 and could barely get above 35 MPH in 2nd gear going through the same passes.

The only problem I have now is that my wife and I are eyeing larger 5th wheelers w/ slideouts since we now have the capability of towing more. I need to pay this truck off first, though.

lol, its funny that you mentioned that. I saw that after I parked. I would have had a nice scratch down the side of my trailer had I not noticed the trees were so close. When I left, I ended up backing out, then going forward.
