Well the laramie option was worth it. I travel all over and want to be comfotable. It isnt near as nice on the inside as my king ranch, but it will do. The leather isnt as soft it is still leather, lol. It came with the 6 disc CD player and heated seats, great for the cold texas winters , and some other stuff that is just nice. Did I need it, no, is it a luxery I enjoy, yes. It my opinion it was worth it, but if money was tight, i could live without. And the mega cab I love. My son wouldnt be able to ride comfortably in the back of the quad cab, 6'3 and growing, and I will haul people around with me going to and from job sites. It is long, but no longer than a long bed QC and it isnt really that hard to drive. My kids are comfortable on long trips and have plenty of leg room. Also the storage is great. I have all sorts of stuff stashed away, lol.

The laramie has a six disc in dash, but it loses the auxilary input (for ipod/mp3 player) on the front. I would rather have the aux input over the 6 disc anyday. Hey how come they don't make heated cloth seats?? I like cloth over leather, but I wouldn't mind having heated seats since it takes so long for these trucks to warm up.

got it from a local snugtop dealer, wasnt cheep... $1200 bux or so. I did come across the same cover for $700 o CL but passed on it as it was a little banged up. matched my paint & everything.
Shoot... It must be a good business to get into...
Comparatively, when it comes to caps, I think you get more
for your buck. I'm looking into both options...

My neighboor has a full diamond plate bed cover. It is pretty crazy lookin' , but I don't think I like it very much (to shiney for me). It does look very secure though .
Well, a lid takes any valuables out of sight, and that's the first step
in prevention. Whatever they can see and decide they want, they
can get to, even through the stock doors...

I got to get a topper on mine for tool storage, I just haven't decided on which one.

I know I've got to switch my slide bed out of my Dakota and put it in my 2500, this truck is to high to be lifting heavy things over the sides.

The slide bed allows me to bring whatI want to me instead of climbing in the bed, or if you have to load somthing heavy you can slide it out to load it then just slide it back in and close that tail gate

Thanks for your feedback...

I'll quickly open and close a brief parenthesis in re: the King Ranch. Alice Walton
(worth around $15.7 billion) also owns a King Ranch and uses it as her daily driver...
http://www.forbesautos.com/advice/to...ce_walton.html
That says much about the level of luxury that comes with that vehicle... The engine,
they say, is not one of the best, but inside it feels just like a Lincoln or Cadillac...
I am sure you can likely confirm that. If I should ever need a second truck (and
have the cash on hand for it...), I would definitely go for the King Ranch...

I am also exploring the possibility of using a cap...

Is anyone here using the truck cap from A.R.E.

http://www.4are.com/product/view_models.php?mk=d&md=r

or something similar (like this http://www.midwesttruckacc.com/catalog/caps/cultra.html ?)

I would like to get some feedback directly from actual users as to convenience, security, etc....

I have an ARE cap. They are top of the line. Fit is good and quality built.

Here is a pic before I had it painted to match the truck (it came off my 2004.5 Ram).

Hi, do you need drawers like these http://www.joeybed.com/
in order to optimally utilize the space inside the cap?

I'll be hauling stuff that is relatively light, but voluminous...

Are you satisfied with the security provided by it (locking
mechanism, stability, etc.)

Any comments about your experience pertinent to the ARE
cap will be much appreciated...

Thanks!

If you get a cap you don't necessarilly need those, they are more for a contractor so he doesn't have to crawl inside his truck to access his tools. With a cap you can also get a tailgate lock..........
http://www.jcwhitney.com/webapp/wcs/...atalogId=10101 you can get them in manual and power, some even hook up to yourkeyless entry fob. Caps are very secure, but you have to remember if someone wants in....they will get in. Fiberglass breaks with a few hits of the hammer. Even locks on tool boxes can be cut easily.
