Default cummins?

I recently heard a friend say that a dealer told him that the new cummins were coming with an Allison tranny? I find this hard to believe, but was just wondering if anyone had heard the same...i know the chevy has a contract with them and I don't think that they would have it with the dodge, but what kind of tranny does the HD dodge have? Just a heavy duty? I'm not a big diesel guy, so anyone with input, i would greatly appreciate!

I heard someone say the same thing a while back. . .the tranny's are made by dodge though. the auto's are dodge 48RE for the 03.5 (I think) and up. where as the earlier models used 47RE's. the only difference is some stiffining in the gears and clutch packs to handle the increased torque of the 600 engine.

as for chevy, their trannys realy arent true allison's. if I understand this correctly, they are just leasing some of the technology Allison puts into their transmissions and GM is useing some of that in their own.

I could be wrong with what I said above, but I do know Dodge is not useing Allison transmissions.
