Default rolls in park

i have a 97 dodge 2500 with an auto and when i put itin park it takes it out of gear but it is like its in nuetral, and it rolls what can it be and how hard is it to fix, do i have to pull the tranny or can i just pull the pan?

theres a gear in the tranny. . .I think it's called the sprag gear. . .a "finger" will drop down on this when you put it in park and catch one of the many teeth on this gear. what it sounds like is that finger is either stuck or broken.

gunna take a complete teardown and rebuild. to get to it properly
