My friend has a 03 Dodge 3/4 ton Short box, It's lifted with oversized tires and such, and among the silly problems he's had the other day I had to tow him home and looking for some insight. His truck is an automatic and he was driving home and all of a sudden his truck stopped. When I looked at it before we towed it, it was like he was trying to powerbrake it in drive, engine was really working to make it move and the transmission would not go in reverse. Also after we towed it to his house, it popped right into drive and he was able to pull it into the place, no restriction what so ever. It still wouldn't go into reverse however. Any thoughts on what might be wrong?

 

First thing to try is changing the fluid and filter.
If that don't get it I would take it to the shop and have the tranny line pressure checked.
These trucks have a problem w/ the tranny fluid pressure.
Have ya checked for codes yet?
