Default NEW CUMMINGS 5.9 OWNER

Let me preface by saying SWEEEEEEET board fellas. I just moved from a 2003 Ram 1500 HEMI to a 2007 5.9 Cummins Dodge MegaCab and what a ride. I have read quite a bit on additives you guys are rolling with and was just curious what your suggestions are for additives, exhaust & air filter. Here's my ride.

2007 Megacab 5.9L Cummins
2WD
4.10
4 Speed

Any thoughts would be greatley appreciated

Welcome! Congrats on the new rig!
There are many, many opinions what to use.

I have the AFE Stage II air intake and AeroTurbine 4040xl muffler. Additives, usually AMSOIL(R) Diesel Concentrate or TCW-3 2-cycle oil.

You KNEW that was comming right?

As far as additives go, right now I'm just useing 1oz of 2 stroke per gallon of diesel to help keep things lubed.

Where's the pics at??? haha.

-Replace the muffler and cat with a straight piece of 4" (my local muffler shop did it for $65).
-Gut the intake and remove the silencer ring, add an afe stock replacement filter. http://www.genosgarage.com/prodinfo....r=AFE-73-80102
-drew's brew.

Have fun, but watch out, these CTD's get very addicting (kinda like this forum )

hey savage...how does that air intake work for ya? r you getting better mpg, turbo sound, throttle responce? that dosent sounds like a bad route for just the price of the filter!

Nick,

I gotta be truthful, I gutted it on sat and have only drove it less than a mile to the gas station since then (I've been car pooling with the wife). But, from what I saw when I did the mod,it should work very nice. The only resistance left in the tube is the crinkly section at the top of the tube where it enters the stock air box. Other than that, it isperfectly smooth. I think some people are just removing the baffles wich would leave all theringsup and downthe outside, of the inside the tube. Drew explained it to me though, if you cut one end off you can actuallyslide everything out leaving the inside of the tube completely smooth, and you can keep the inner section to slide back in if you have to for some reason. I removed the silencer ring too while I was at it, and I can definetly hear the turbo scream now, but it is still hard due to the rediculously loud exhaust, haha! I think the main gain from the filter will be just as geno's says, increase in length between cleanings due to increased filter surface area. But like I said though... haven't had it very long, time will tell.
