Default Maintance cost: 6.7L diesel vs 5.7L hemi?

What is the maitenance cost for the first 100,000 miles for a 6.7 diesel vs a 5.7 hemi? I am looking to buy a Mega cab. But, I am leaning to getting a diesel because of its size. I have never owned a diesel. I will be pulling a 6000 lb boat. Anyone can explain how maitenance works with a diesel?

I now own 2002 Quad Cab 4.7 L. That boat puts a strain on the engine. I also wish dodge would have kept the trusted 5.9L diesel because I can't afford a new truck until next summer! I hope the kinks will be gotten out of the 6.7 by then!

Overall maintenance cost should be less on a diesel over many years and miles. The engine hard parts are usually tougher too. There is no ignition components to worry about like spark plugs etc. Less emmissions components too.
Diesels usually have larger oil capacities so you will pay ever so slightly more for oil.

They are still making the 5.9 HO Cummins, the issue for right now is they only are selling the remainder of the 07's when the 08's can be sold then you are good to buy a 5.9L.

Had a 06 hemi if you are a do it your selfer with maintenance not too costly, however there is no comparison. Go to the delaer have them pull the truck in hemi form next to the truck in diessel form and compare everything from axles to frame. are you looking to get a 4x4? imo that is the way to go, may never use it but if it ever comes down to it much better to have then not to have. I have had both and I will never go back to a gas truck ever again.

They no longer make the 5.9L engine as of Dec 31, 2006 and all trucks made after Jan 1, 2007 come with the EPA smog approved 6.7L engine.
