I have two buddies who did their trucks, one being an auto another being a manual. Nothing bad has happened. I am going to do mine. One note, after you do it, drive easy for about 1 week or 1 tank of diesel. Light footed and such and allow your computer to get used to less backpressure. That's what I was told. Not sure if it's true or not but even after I changed my exuast from stock muffler to banks monster exhaust and I already didn't have a catalytic converter the turbo seemed to have a hard time building pressure but after about one tank of fuel it was great.

I have an early 04 also and I have had no problem with straight through exhaust. I don't think ours has a cat on it, if you can, get some pics. Either way, you will love the sound. It's hardly any louder in the cab. On the freeway crusing 70, the volume on the radio when from 13 with stock exhaust to 15 with straight through. So it's not much louder.

'00 with a straight pipe and haven't had a problem...only problem might be for everyone outside the truck trying to hear something other than a diesel's rumble.

I just put on my aero in place in of the cat and there is some other aftermarket muffler where the stocker was (I didnt put it there but its certainly not stock) and it sounds fantastic. Without the aero it sounded bad IMO, had a woooshie sound at idle. Now its just a deep rumble.

Chewy,

Do you, or anyone else here, have a sound file of the CTD with a straight pipe? I'd like to get an idea of what it would sound like before I go through the process of doing mine.
