Thinking about a new truck
We are taking a serious look at purchasing a new (07) Mega cab 2500 with the 5.9. But before investing $$$$$ I would like some opinions on the 4 speed transmission. We have a 96 4X4 club (gas) that Iv'e babied since new and at about 105k the tranny decided to take a vacation. $2500 later and its up and running. Not quite the good ol' 727 of years gone by. That and having owned a concorde with the wonderful 2.7 liter has started to make me somewhat leary of purchasing another Mopar (owned em all my life). I know the 5.9 cummins is proven but need some opinions on the transmission good or bad to help with the decision making. Of course the dealer will say they have been great but what else can he say most of them dont know the transmission from the front tire. Any thoughts on the tranny or anything else about the truck will be greatly appreciated! Oh one other thing...Wheel hop (axel wrap)is it noticable on the 2500 series? The 1500 (at least the model year I have) is terrible if in sand or a few inches of crusty snow. Again thanks for the replys.
as long as you dont push more than 75hp over stock. . .the 48RE will do quite well. there are still some issues here and there, but for the most part it has proven itself a good unit. . .under stock trim.
I have been hearing alot of good things from the new 6.7's and the 6spd they have. only problem has been the exhaust causeing a few problems, but a computer flash solves it for the mos part.

. I usually only get wheel hop on conc. , and it really isn't that bad.
