Default Hmmm... Interesting

Recently put new gear oil in my rear diff and front diff since the old oil got saturated with water and such. I put Lucus synthetic 80-90W ran my truck a bit and keeping an eye on it. No water in the oil. but noticed that theres a few tiny metallic shavings on my magnetic fill plug. could this be cause from A - the short pull with water in gear oil from stuck place to my home. B - Rear wheel bearings being over tightend? C- Bad mix of oil for rear gears. I can't imagine me running it enough to really wear the rear end so I'd imagine that it's stuff that has been in there but I could always be wrong. Just trying to find out if I should go along the lines of removing lucas gear oil. switch to something else. Just let it run a bit because it's previous wear. Or change tightness of rear bearings. The rear bearings we tightened up just to where the wheel wouldn't shake. perhaps they might be too loose? So many possiblities. Also on all the parts on the truck that i imagined having problems. the bearings stay the coolest after I ran it and I greased em. So.... Just looking for pointers. just came to mind right now.

Wasn't there a problem with the AAM axles where the "C" clips came off and rubbed something in the diff?

if your truck is farely new it could just be from being broken in.

It sounds more like normal wear and tear. Mine was similar the first time I changed it.

Normal wear. As for bearings, tighten the crap outa them then back them off. Then tighten them to 50 ftlbs then back off a 1/4 turn.
