Default Westin Nerf Bar

Has anyone else installed a set of the Westin Nerf Bars on a 2007 Dodge Ram QC pickup? I got around to installing mine this weekend. For the most part, installation was simple, but I'm confused as to how the "support brace" goes on. The diagram shows that the support braces screw onto the front and rear bracket and then bolts onto what looks to be the inside body of the truck. I've oriented this support brace on the bracket several different ways, but I can't see where the other end goes.

Lastly, how solid should this nerf bars be when installed? I've torqued the bolts to the specified requirements. However, when someone steps on the nerf bars, it bends down just slightly. Is this normal?

Hopefully this helps... i had the same problems.... the wierd loookin brackets use the smalls nuts and bolts to the side of the big drop down bracket... and go towards the outside of the truck... looking from underneath... you'll see what looks like little strips of tape underneath the doors... I'm sure you'll find what i'm talkin about... .... you also have metal oval plates that came with the step bars... you'll need those so i hope you did'nt think they were trash.... but if you loosly bolt the wierd bar to the drop bar from the the long end... you'll see how the other end's hole matches up with one of those stirps of tape.... then just use a screwdriver and poke your holes... bolt up wiht the oval plates on the inside of the taped hole... you may needs ascrew driver to hold them in place... sucks *** somttimes... but it can be done with a little patience...I hope this helps... and don't put tooo much weight on those steps until you do... i bent mine.... looks like crap because i never had it bent back... But i hope this helps you... Goood Luck... any other questions let me know... Sorry that explanation took so long to read... but i types as fast as i could so you can speed read it... hehe

Thanks 07 Ram TRX4. Thats exactly what I was looking for. I did see those strips of tape on the inside of the body, but I didn't want to remove/cut through them until I was 100% sure that the support brace was supposed to go there.

I just completed installing the brackets as 07 Ram TRX4 mentioned. I just cut a hole in the strip of tape and stuffed the bolt through the hole (almost lost a bolt too). The bars are much more stable now. In fact, there's no flexing when I step on them. Thanks again for the help.
