On a lot of the big rigs they run two fuel filters first a water seperator, then a fuel filter. First the fuel goes into the water seperator wich seperates water from the fuel. The seperator also has a about a 100micron mesh inside to filter out the big particles. Thenfuel goes through theprimary filter. This has about a 10micron filter rating. And on some semi's they run another filter after this to get down to a 3micron rating. You can get a FASS fuel system for your truck that will have the water seperator and a filter. Its a great setup, I love mine. You can get filters for it to filter down to 3microns compared to the 8micron stock filter.

If not what Jake mentioned... the only filters our trucks have is the stock fuel filter and a screen in the tank.

You can get a walbro setup with a big line kit and 2 mircon filter. Instead of replacing the water separator like the FASS does, you can contiune to use your stock fuel filter / water separator / fuel heater with a 7 microns filter. It doesn't cost as much and is much easier to repair on the road if necessary.

Do not get me worng... the FASS is also a nice setup :-) don't want to get hammered about detering from anothers suggestion ;-O

I know it doesn't get THAT cold in Asheville but, it does get cold. Keep that in mind when you get the FASS. It doesn't have a fuel heater and you may have cold start trouble.

well, I stated what I said wrong. You'll still have your intake heater so you shouldn't have a starting problem. Ther fuel heater will help gelling though. Like I said.... you "may" have a problem but, it's not realy likely. Plenty of guys are running the FASS in the north.

This kit is an option for you ... very easily installed...

and this ... http://www.glacierdieselpower.com/pr...?pf_id=9852BLK

give Richard a call and he'll tell you all about his kit. Tell him I sent you ;-)
