Default Boost Controller?

I was just wondering if there was such thing as a manual wastegate or boost controller. If so, would it be ok to close the wastegate (temporarily while accelerating) to see how much boost you can produce? I think my next performance upgrade is going to be a new turbo because everyone says that I need more air, or need propane or nitrous. I'd rather stay natural if I can. Thanks to all that reply.

There is a manual boost controller, have one on my car. But you don't want to close off your wastegate to see how much boost you can produce. You will get enough that certain parts of the engine can't handle it.
I'm new to the CTD, so I don't know how this would hook up, but this is one of the better manual controllers that is used in the import scene:

Yeah umm. closing it completely off is a baaadd idea. Your stock turbo is rated for 60 psi I think unless it's changed. mines rated for 60 on my 03 I believe. But umm if you do that your going to tear up a buncha ****. A BUNCH OF ****. And then you'll be thinking why did I do that. Probably blow hose clamps. Could lift your heads. More than likely your turbo. Maybe tear out your intercooler. Yeah. Bad idea. Drew or jake will probably back me on this.

How about just adjusting it to build a little more boost? Thats what a new turbo would be doing, wouldn't it? Thats what I meant by closing the wasategate. Is there a way to do that without tearing up a BUNCHA****? Thanks Scott and KG

Since I am VERY new to the CTD (only about 1300 miles driven) I'm not sure how the boost is controlled. If it is not done by the computer then you could install the boost controller and slowly adjust it. But you also have to have a way to supply more fuel.

A bigger turbo will move more volume of air as well as added boost pressure. Just making your stock turbo build more pressure will heatthe charge airand not have the exact result you expect. Besides I beleive the number I've read is don't exceed 40 psi from the stocker. Oh, and on our 2006 engines the computer does control the waste gate.
