Im thinking about sellin my 99 ram gasser and goin to a cummins! I was wondering what cummins engine is better the 12 valve or the 24 valve and i no that the 12 valve is a bit older but i was wonderin what some of you guys like out there
Its a differance between a mechanically controlled and electronically controlled. I know that if you want to build massive horsepower and torque, like sled pulling amounts, its best to start with a 12 valve. They have the ability to acheive bigger numbers. They are both great motors IMO.
go 12 valve alot easier to make power...chips are made for dip not trucks
actualy, I bairly got my hands dirty turning my truck up to 390hp on my 04.5. . . .now I will say the 12 valves take less to make power, however you have to watch the gages closer and have to come to a complete stop, and turn the engine off in order to make adjustments.
however you cannot beat the sound of a 12 valve under load[8D]
