Im thinking about sellin my 99 ram gasser and goin to a cummins! I was wondering what cummins engine is better the 12 valve or the 24 valve and i no that the 12 valve is a bit older but i was wonderin what some of you guys like out there

Its a differance between a mechanically controlled and electronically controlled. I know that if you want to build massive horsepower and torque, like sled pulling amounts, its best to start with a 12 valve. They have the ability to acheive bigger numbers. They are both great motors IMO.

actualy, I bairly got my hands dirty turning my truck up to 390hp on my 04.5. . . .now I will say the 12 valves take less to make power, however you have to watch the gages closer and have to come to a complete stop, and turn the engine off in order to make adjustments.

however you cannot beat the sound of a 12 valve under load[8D]

Electronics mean better fuel economy with more power. Youd have to dump a lot of money into a 12v to get it to run with a new cr engine.
