Default Undercoating

Has anyone put an undercoating on the underneath of their rig? I'm down here at in the Brownsville, Texas area and am always around the ocean breeze. I make it a point to always wash my truck completely whenever I go near the water, but I still get flash rust. I know its probably nothing more that just cosmetic, but I dont like the way it looks. Does anyone know anything I can spray on or something? Thanks

The auto parts stores used to carry a spray on under coat. I haven't looked for it in a while but I bet they still do.

I'm originally from the northeast and a big thing up hear is hot oil undercoating for the winter. It works fine and does help against rust. BUT it also makes a mess of the underside of your truck and all sorts of nasty junk likes to get stuck to it. So yeah, its good to help against rust. But I hate every minute of working under a truck because of it.

Installing an undercoating, one has to make REAL sure that the truck is CLEAN CLEAN!! or its gonna come off either its gonna chip off or worse separate from the body panel and become a moisture/dirt trap that will go unnoticed till the big nasty hole shows through!! [:@]

Good point SpLaT, I think it would be nice to spray it with bed liner (If it could be done).

My brother bought this spray on oily film stuff from the hardware store and put it on his hemiwith a wagner power sprayer. He doesn't work on his own truck so he didn't think twice, I however do tinker with mine and it looked like It would be messy, and if I had to work on something I would have to scrape it off and expose the metal to the elements again. I was wondering if there is an alternative to that, or if thats the only thing thats cost effective. i dont want to powdercoat or line-x because I know I'll probably have to drill, grind, or weld right after I pay some guy a rediculous sum to apply. Thanks for the input guys

i had mine done three weeks after i got it, not to dirty and the detail guys did a great job of preclean then post clean, like previously mentioned it does fine against rock chips and keeps my truck ready to outlast the ctd.
