RE: Best Oil To Use In Front And Rear Differential???
You have a choice of either a suction tube from the fill plug hole, or loosen the mounting bolts holding the covers on to allow the fluid to drain. The after market extra capacity covers usually have both a drain and fill plugs.

ORIGINAL: ntc09
Anyone know how much to buy??? Also, I found what I believe to be the fill plug...where is the drain plug?
Thanks
The rear differential holds a little less than 5 quarts and the front is a little over 2 quarts. Buying two 1-gallon bottles will be enough. Obviously if you have the aftermarket diff covers your capacity will be higher.
RE: Best Oil To Use In Front And Rear Differential???
I pulled my cover all the way off. I wonted to inspect everything and clean it real good. I was amazed at the metal from break in. Of course the was the first time Iever changed iton any truck I have ever had. But me personally I like taking it off to look in side a clean it up real good. Its not hard at all to do.........
