I'm using Amsoil new grade of synthetic "Severve Gear 75w110" It has more protection than the 75w90, but doesn't hurt fuel milage like the 75w140.

You have a choice of either a suction tube from the fill plug hole, or loosen the mounting bolts holding the covers on to allow the fluid to drain. The after market extra capacity covers usually have both a drain and fill plugs.

The rear differential holds a little less than 5 quarts and the front is a little over 2 quarts. Buying two 1-gallon bottles will be enough. Obviously if you have the aftermarket diff covers your capacity will be higher.

I pulled my cover all the way off. I wonted to inspect everything and clean it real good. I was amazed at the metal from break in. Of course the was the first time Iever changed iton any truck I have ever had. But me personally I like taking it off to look in side a clean it up real good. Its not hard at all to do.........
