My brother has a 2002 CTD with about 112k miles on it. When he bought the truck, it was skipping first gear until he got on it good and then it would downshift. A guy worked on it, replaced a couple sensors, and it's worse now. When driving up a hill, he has absolutely no power, almost like the thing is in neutral and he's just revving it. Somebody told him it was starting in 3rd. Has anybody ever experienced this? Should he buy a new performance transmission or will replacing the valve body and torque converter along with a rebuild make this thing better than new? As far as we know, the truck has never had any performance mods.
