Valve Adjustment so easy a 16 year old can do it...
well, I have decided to do the valve adjustment this morning... was waiting for the sun to pop up enough to put some heat outside before I start and I realized this is an awesome opportunity to have jr do the adjustment for me... muhahaha muhahaha muhahaha. Nothing like having real stuff to work on to get more & more experience...
So, I'm going to give him the DIY writeup, and open up the manual to the valve adjustment page and let him have at it... should be fun...

if he could he would... he doesnt know it but there is a slight chance of us going to the lake for swimming today... we'd be picking up his buddy Alex before going. It kind of depends on if we're going to go look at a 2nd gen fixer truck for sale... If we dont make it swimming today, it'll be monday or tuesday.
Sorry to hear about your little buddy...

Well, done! took about 2 hours since I had to teach jr how to do it... once he knew, it went really quick.
One thing I'd add to the DIY writeup is the motor rotation and TDC mark... if you rotate the motor to the TDC mark & the valves are tight as described in the writeup, adjust the 2nd set of valves 1st, then rotate back to TDC and adjust the 1st set of valves... We ended up 360* out for TDC and adjusted the 2nd set 1st, then went 360* to do the 1st set of valves as described in the writeup... saves another rotation if your on the 2nd set of valves on the 1st time around...

every 150k... I have 66k on mine. I checked the 1st couple of valves and they were at the upper limit of the spec. put them at the ideal spec and just adjusted all of them that way. fired up the motor and I could not hear any valve train noise at all... significantly quieter.
for the 2 hours it took us, well worth it. I think if I had adjusted all the valves, it would have been alot quicker, however jr doesnt learn anything that way...

Update... drove it over 250 miles yesterday and was quite suprised at how quiet it was compared to before the adjustment. for the amount of work it took it is well worth it...
