Ok, just went and bought a 1999 ext. cab long bed cummins diesel 4x4 the other day. I gave 11K for it cash, got a good deal by doin it that way. I had my buddy who eats/sleeps/breathes/****s dodge cummins check the motor out, he said the motor is in excellent shape. Truckhas 209K miles on it.

Here are some things I found wrong:

sliding back glass latch broken - repaired today

drivers seat motor will go up, forward adn back but not down - not yet repaired

theres kind of a rattlingthat i can hear and feel under my feetin the front end when i hit bumps - not yet figured out

road walks - not excessively but noticeable - not yet repaired

when hammered down, tranny hangs in 1st gear an extra few seconds, then shifts firmly into next gear and then shifts thru the rest of hte gears with no problem - not yet figured out

air conditioner works for 10 mins or so then stops working, have to turn it off for a few mins then back on and then it works again - not yet figured out

heater smells awful when i turn it on, ive smelled that smell before in my buddy's ford ranger once - not yet figured out

anybody have any input on teh rattling in teh front end? maybe its associated with hte road walking?

okay since then i've replaced the heater core, that was the problem with the heater smell. for some reason though, its hard to keep this thing at good warm operating temps, especially when coasting down a mountain. it takes forever (about 20 miles) to completely warm up and thats if i stay on it the whole time. the heater is less than impressive, and during the couple of cool nights we had here, i froze my *** off!!! lol.

and the AC....still does the thing where it'll work for about 5 minutes or so then stop working until i completely shut it off, wait about 5-10 mins, then turn it back on, then it'll blow really nice and cold for about 5 minutes or so. any ideas on hte heater/ac problems?
