Default 04 CTD 2500 Question

Hey guys, I just noticed today while im drifting or downshifting, at times i hear this weird rattling//clicking noise, its driving me insane and i can't figure out where its coming from. I spent 2 hours today looking under the truck and such, but i still can't figure out what it is, any ideas? Also sometimes when i try to put the truck in reverse (6sp manual), It won't go all the way in, the reverse lights will pop on, but i can let the clutch all the way out and the truck won't stall, or move for that matter, I have to play with it to get it in reverse. ;\ Would that be tranny slippage? Thanks in advance for any info, much appreciated.

By drifting do you mean coasting (in neutral or clutch in)? Be more specific...
As far as reverse, I have to play with mine a little before it will go in too, it feels like it has 2 engaging points, one is the syncros, and the second is the actual gears I believe. That is very typical with most manual transmissions I have ever had, and this one is one of the better I have owned. First gear acts similarly (when I use it). Does it not act up as much when everything is warmed up (after a decent length trip)?
And by the way: Manual transmissions don't have "tranny slippage" that is an auto thing, they only have clutch slippage, and gears not engaged (or gone... which I think you would be hard pressed to do that on these trannys).

Yeah sorry for the lack of information, "Coasting" would be the better word. Atleast thats the only time i hear it, because the truck is straight piped. Just when i let off the gas, or am downshifting coming to a stoplight/sign. I've listened very closely and do not hear it while accelerating or any other circumstances. As far as the reverse question, thanks alot for the information, and I really can't tell if it's different after it warms up, because i generally only use reverse early in the mornings when i'm leaving or if im backing a trailer in somewhere, however i will check on that tomorrow. I noticed that one of the little window shields (the shields that keep rain out) is loose. Which would allow it to rattle, however i tried manually rattling it and the noise doesn't sound remotely similiar.

Btw, noticed your using the Edge Juice with Attitude, Could you give me a personal oppinion on it? Looking into getting one, I just want to mainly improve the Fuel Economy and a little power with it, however if it'll allow some smoke to blow thats a plus Just wondering how it's working for ya.

Thanks

I love it, I can't tell you what it has done to mileage yet, but I can say it is a blast. As far as smoke, mine only smokes in setting 4 or 5, but that is by choice. You can set the low boost settings, and in 1 and 2 mine are at 1 (least smoke, which is that way for mileage and don't want crap on the trailer for towing...), in 3 mine is set in the middle (balance of response and smoke), 4 and 5 are all out response (lots of smoke...).

As far as the reverse, mine is horrible at first in the morning backing out of the parking spot (sometimes, I let it roll a little to get it in gear), but I also have a short throw shifter on it, so any amount of grab or troubles do get multiplied due to the lack of leverage.

For the clicking, does it happen at idle too or just moving? Did you check out things like universals or something along those lines? Hopefully someone else can help out with that one, it is very hard to say without hearing what it sounds like...

Yeah it doesn't do it while sitting still idleing. Only while i'm moving. However, thanks alot for your info.. and i'm definitely going to have to get my Edge System soon. Checked universals, and everything else i knew to check.
