Default Engine surging and not responding

I have a2001 dodge ram 2500 I have recently (in the last two days had a problem). I change the tire size on my truck from 265 to 285 size tires. I do not know if this has anything to do with the problem or if it is just conincidental, but my truck seems to surge from time to time going up hills or sometimes on flat roads. The other thing that has been happening is sometimes when I press the accelerator there is no response from the engine until I let off of the accelerator and then press down again. I am getting the 1693 and 0216 on the codes. Does the injector timing need to be adjusted since the change on tire size or is it something else. Thanks for your help!

Default RE: Engine surging and not responding

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR TRUCK. . .your lift pump has failed and if you dive it much more you will be looking at a $2000 repair bill to replace the VP44 injector pump.

1693 and 0216 are normaly the death codes for the VP44. if you can get the lift pump (mounted on the back side of the fuel filter canister) changed out to an after market pump you may be ok. but once again, dont drive the truck any more. I just hope your pump is not dammaged.
