Default 6.7 ctd

I have a 2006 hemi and fuel is killing me so I am trading it in on a 2007 ctd 6.7 slt 3500 Quad cab long box 4X4 with a manual &big horn package. I realy like the power of the ctd But the polution control stuff keeps me from pulling the trigger on the deal. The dealer has them marked down 9 grand off MSRP We put 300 miles on a demo they gave us yesturday and got 16.4 mpg mostly highway running 70-75. So whats everyones feed back on the 6.7 CTD ????

WOW! YOU OPENED A CAN OF WORMS!!!!

solid matter exhaust canister cloggs easily..have to drive hwy to regenerate (clean) it.

central computer issues popin up all over the board.
check engine light
loss of performance

over all, that 6.7 w/ 6 spd is a FANTASTIC ride!!!

ask about the dang computer glitches and tell em not to lie or youll drive it through the front of the stealership window!

I work my trucks daily I run a Refrigeration Service companydrive about 200 miles a day. They say the only problems with the filter clogging is people not getting them up to temp running short trips and not getting the EGT high enough. Also they claim a computer flash fixed that issue. Computer issues was told they have had a few but they are being worked out.

theres a member on here whos 6.7 engine light came on. then it displayed engine at 80% efficiency (or somethin like that). fuel milage dropped to nothin. all computer glitche.

an associate of mine has had his 6.7 since june. engine light came on last week twice. dealer reprogrammed it and it came on the next mornin. he now has a dealer doc that says he may drive with it on till the firmware issue can be solved.

they lie bout the firmware probs.

others have mentioned idling too long clogs the canister..

We have both an 06 & 07 and are very happy with both. The 07 is a daily drive that just puts around town. Have not had a problem with it yet. We'll see how it goes after a few more miles are put on.

I will say that the 07 is very very very very quite though. I prefer my 06 at least it has a little rumble

We have been looking for a 5.9 07 but have not found any here in montana and the sales staff cant seem to find what we want, The hemi runs great zero problems if you dont mind 11 mpg we have cut down on how much stock we keep on the truck to help keep the weight down. I am at a loss I need to make the swith to dieselbut the new ULSD engines has me worried. I just would hate to trow a few grand at the hemi headers exhaust intake programer and maybee get an improvement. Anyone had any luck doing this??or buy a 6.7ctd andhave down time setting in the shop or maybee no problems.
