hello folks, new to the site, but had dodges for quite a while and my dad has always had new diesels. now comes the time for me to make the switch, went n looked at an 00 dodge ram sport ext cab 4x4. what are some key things to checkout in these trucks? me and my dad tookit for a drive and we had it in 4 by, then we took it back out and went to put it back in and couldnt get it to go anywhere when we tried the 4x4, but then when we took it back the owner showed us you have to ram the stick hard to get it into 4x4, common?(not going anywhere if your not fully into 4x4?) also i no the ranny's have some problems, this one only has 145km on it, but hasn;t been worked on, i hear clutches go aorund 160?. anything else i should look for or be aware of would be nice. thanks alot

 

well i got a 2001 3500ram and i can put it in 4x4 whit the tips of my fingers...,BUT
my father in law got a 95 2500ram and whit this one u HAVE to slam the stick really hard to get into gear
and he got it since about 5 years and always been like that

 

Welcome!! I wouldn't think you'd have to "ram" the stick to get it into 4x4 most should go in/out fairly easy.
