Question for all the tech's on here
I have a 03 cummins and had some trouble with it kicking codes about a year ago. Also had low end power problems. Took it to the dealership and they flashed it, new boost pressure sensor, and found a clogged elbow on the wastegate and a hole in the hose to the wastegate.The tech also told me who ever had the truck before, had a chip on it, i also did the bullydog trial run for the triple dog downloader. Trials for 48 hrs and then returns to stock. My tech said this probably sent the truck in fuel limp mode, and caused my codes.Everything was fixed and no problems. Now, a year later, the same code is kicking again. It's P0107-Manifold Absolute Pressure/Barometric Pressure Circuit Low Input. My tech says it is not the MAP sensor, because he tried that last time.If any of you think my truck is fine and will just keep kicking this same code for some reason or you have a solution, please let me know.FYI-the truck does not run any different, and the light will come on and go off in a couple of days and then come back on when ever it feels like. you can yank it off and see if there is a way to test it, download the manual and look at page 1791 to see how to remove it. A normal map sensor will allow you to hook up a vacuum pump to which you can apply a vacuum and watch the signal change... with this one being a dual function sensor looking at both boost & vacuum you might have to use the pressure side of the vacuum pump to change the signal (not sure if that will work or not as I have not tried it...). it could be that it is intermittant. you can also look at the connector to see if there is any corrosian in it which may cause intermittant contact.
yeah if the tech says he's replaced it already then it should be good, and since you still have the code it is probably a wiring concern, and to be more specific its probably the signal wire back to the pcm. but like steve said though I would test the sensor too, and get yourself ahold of a wiring diagram and test the wiring harness.
