Default Brake and ABS light on

My Brake and my ABS lights are constant when I am driving. The manual says that I should take it in for immediate service. This happened a while back and then they just shut off after a day or two. I'm going to be in the area of a stealer tomorrow (56mins away from home) so I'm planning on going buy there tomorrow unless one of you guys knows what is going on and can tell me how to fix it. The fluid level is almost full. Thanksto anyone who replies.

KillerCummins, check the rear pumkin, on top you should find wires leading to a connector, check the connection, either it has come loose or has water/dirt in it... or like mine a rock took out the connector completely, had bare wires draggin in the mud. I just tapped them up good and zip strapped the wiring harrness up out harms way. Been running like this for awhile now, hasn't affected the brakes at all.

Awesome, thanks a lot Splat, I touched that last night while I was looking for a gear tag on the axle and maybe I accidentally knocked it lose. I just made a 40 min tripand the light went off, so I bet that is exactly what it is and the vibration is making it fix and break the connection. I'll make sure its tight. Is our rear axle always locked or is it electronic? Is there a locker in our fronts or are we SOL if we get into that kind of a pickle? Thanks again buddy.

Its a limited slip in the rear end, not sure whats in the front. Go get some dielectric grease and pack that connector full of it.

Nope, you want dielectric. Regular grease will cause all sorts of trouble.

Yep, use it in all the connections you want. It keeps moisture out and makes a better electrical contact.

Sounds like dream. Great, will do. Dielectric, I can remember that. I'll make sure and do that when I put my front shaft on tomorrow. Thanks again.

You might need to change out the speed sensor that those wires go to if you find the wire connection is OK. Pretty common for Dodges for this to go out it seems. Since your lights went off after a while, I'd certainly try checking the wire connections first though. You can get the part from your dealer for around $40 and it takes 15 minutes to chasnge. There are a number of threads on this problem in this forum and the 2nd and 3rd ge forums.
Regards, Glenn
