Default Starting fine, idleing ok, then stalling ?

Has anyone ever seen this before ? I have a 98 Dodge 2500 cummins. This truck hasrecently developed a stalling problem that I'm confused on.
When this truck sets overnight or longer it sometimes dies on me after it starts. It will startup normally, run for a few secounds just fine and then it stalls out. If I crank on it long enough (really abusing my starter) and pump the gas pedal it will eventually start back up run rough as a cob for a fewsecounds and then smooth back out. After this I can run all day starting stoping and it does fine. I replaced the fuel filter a few months back before this ever started happening and it ran fine after doing so untill now. I have tried useing fuel treatment and have bleed the system also. Anyone have any iseas ?I would greatly appreciate any help.

thanks

you have to remember there is a filter behind the P7100. . .you may need to change that bad boy out too.

thats the model number of your injector pump

also make sure all your fuel line connections are tight and not leaking. . .you could be loosing prime somewhere.

OK Drew, I will try and findthe filter you are talking about. Also I will check the fuel lines for leaks. Does this truck have a electric fuellift pump on it ? I don't hear anythingrunning when I first turn the key on. I know I have a manual push button on the side of the filter canister.
The way the truck sounds it sounds to me like its losing prime also.

for 12 valves there is a mechanical lift pump that is mounted on the block. even though they are pretty sturdy, that could be your problem.

the electric lift pumps were installed on the 24 valves mainy because the VP44 injector pump could not handle the fuel pulses a mechanical pump produces.

I was wondering that also. When I bleed the system the last time I noticed that the rubber seal aroundthe manual button had split in half and laying to the sides of the button. Do you think this could be causing it to loose prime ?
