Pandora's box opened!I've had a BHAF, and I use an AEM now, but I haven't noticed much difference from stockbesides a lot of turbo whistle. Many have switched to a drop in replacement like the nano-filter that Amsoil has. Honestly, I had a K&N for about 10,000 miles and my silicates were still low when I sampled the oil. Excess oil can foul the intake /turbo on the oiled filters. There are MANY CAIs available for our vehicles. AFE, BD, Airaid, S&B, Scotty, Volant,...and more.
Cheers
Mike

Well Mike, I too have done exhaustive searches on the topic since I bought my truck, have yet to do anything about it yet though. If you really wanna do it, I think whateer brand you choose, is probably OK. As far as bang for your buck, the PSM boxappears to bea decent setup, couple that with the high flow Nanofiber filter from Amsoil and it would be as much as most guys would everneed. $100 dollars is hard to beat(minus the filter), However, if you got the time and ability you could duplicate the PSM yourself for probably less than 20 bucks, Although the Amsoil Filter costs more.
SO, although I have not tried any of them, from what I have read and heard talking to others, If you have a stock truckperformance is somewhat similiar across the board, you are not going to get HUGE increases in anything but noise with any of them (Despite what some will claim)...I think a magazine did an article recently and proved that on a dyno.

So it boils down to how much bling you want and cash you don't!

Please dont read this as an endosement for PSM, I am not in anyway affiliated with them, only mentioned them because it seems to be about the lowest priced thing I have seen, and in theory it should work as well as anything else, and if making your own you could make it flow even more air by increasing diameter of the opening.

AFE Stage 2 w/pg7 filter. love it, it is an oiled filter. my only complaint with it is getting it clean. I did a test on it vs the K&N cleaner and found the afe cleaning solution does not cut it. the thread is up there in the Info thread tacked at the top. Other than that, it is awesome. motor revs way easier, more top end flow.

If your after mpg... your best bet is to get a rokktech crank sensor, said to be good for 1~1.5 mpg. otherwise leave your truck alone. If your after performance, how fat is your wallet . My truck, as modded as it is (mild) can still get 17's pretty easily and will push into the 18's occasionally.

I got the k&n setup with the oiled filter. Is there a different paper filter out there the same size that will fit my k&n tube? I ended up taking it off and went back to the stock box. I can definitely tell a difference in performance so i am looking for another setup without having to buy a whole new system. Any thoughts?
Thanks
